This morning I have an image in mind.
So, maybe I should draw instead of write, but I’ll try to paint it with words.
Over the last few days, I’ve been talking and listening to conversations about organizations, structures and forms.
Often we see an organization as a container that shapes how the people inside it position themselves, connect, and move. There are many possible forms: some are more rigid or hierarchical, while others are flexible and fluid. Still, the focus is on the container that informs, explicitly or implicitly, where people position themselves and how they connect and operate.
So, the image that came back to me this morning was “an interconnected network of nodes”. A group of nodes, connected by strong and elastic links, that can take any form without losing its integrity. It can be stretched, expanded, compacted, adapting to the needs of the context without losing its substance. You can pull any nodes, and the whole network will adapt.
From an organizational perspective, it means shifting the focus from the structure to the people and the relationship between them.
I don’t know where I’m going with this.
But maybe you can help me read it or even draw it.

Spread the love
